Biomass drying system
Hongji Machinery has extensive expertise in biomass drying, we have participated in more than 80 projects for forestry companies, biomass fertilizer producers, and solid waste treatment companies. In addition, we have participated in the reconstruction or renovation of more than 30 existing facilities.
Our comprehensive services cover the design and engineering of the entire process facility from feeding to packaging. Our designs incorporate key concepts to achieve the best profit level. Our team has more than 20 years of experience in biomass material drying, and our designs reflect a deep understanding of the industry.

With the Biomass & Waste Rotary Dryer you can dry:
Our dryers can dry wood chips, sawdust, animal manure, domestic waste, medical waste and other solid waste
Woodchip Drying
An alternative to traditional fossil fuels is woodchip; woodchip is burned inside a biomass boiler. A woodchip biomass boiler not only saves money in energy, but is also considered to be carbon neutral as the CO₂ absorbed by the trees as they grow balances the CO₂ produced as it burns.

To get the best out of these fuels, they need to have a very low moisture content, this greatly increases their combustion efficiency. The quickest and most efficient way to remove this moisture is to dry the woodchip using and biomass & waste dryer.
Waste drying(Domestic waste, medical waste)
The world’s continuous development brings new challenges to the environment. The population growth leads to an exponential growth of waste reducing the landfill sites’ capacities to deal with the current amount of waste materials produced.

Our biomass & waste dryers play key parts in the waste processing cycle.By removing the moisture content of waste, you get the benefit of:
Reducing the weight and volume for transport or landfill disposal.
Increasing the calorific value to be used as biomass fuel.
Improving the recyclability of plastics and other recycled products increasing the efficiency of the sorting systems.
Digestate drying
Digestate is known as a nutrient-rich fibrous substance produced by anaerobic digestion, and there is an increasing demand on dried digestate for animal bedding, fertiliser, and other on-farm use. Especially for on-Farm AD projects, the post-AD processes: dewatering and drying digestate become inevitable considering the saving on transport cost and reuse of heat from engine and CHP units.

The biomass & waste dryer will efficiently dry digestate from a maximum moisture content of 75% down to below 10% if required. If higher input moisture is required this can be achieved through the addition of our back-mixing system.
Biomass material drying process
Biomass drying is the key to biomass energy utilization. Its process needs to be optimized according to the characteristics of the raw materials (such as moisture content, particle size, thermal sensitivity) and subsequent application requirements.

A simple biomass drying process is as follows:
Raw material pretreatment
After being weighed, the raw materials enter the storage area and are initially removed of metal, stone and other impurities. The raw materials that need to be crushed are crushed to less than 30mm by a hammer crusher to improve the drying and conduction efficiency.
Hot air drying
Hongji Machinery uses a rotary dryer to dry biomass. In the rotary dryer, high-temperature hot air (100-500℃) is forced to circulate and directly transfer heat to remove moisture from the raw materials.
Cooling, screening and packaging
After drying, the material is dusted by a cyclone separator and then cooled. The lumps and powder are removed by a vibrating screen, and the qualified particle size enters the storage bin and waits for packaging.
Biomass Drying Machine-Rotary Dryer
We usually use rotary dryers to dry biomass materials. The dryers we produced are highly automated and easy to operate, and can perfectly reduce the moisture content of the materials to the ideal level.
